Soul legends' sons in legal battle
[source: NME.com] The sons of soul legends Marvin Gaye and Lou Rawls are engaged in a legal battle over a dog attack.
Lou Rawls Jnr claims "four large dogs" bit him during a visit to the house of Marvin Gaye III in 2005.
The claim, filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court last week, alleged Rawls Jnr suffered "loss of blood and tearing of flesh".
Rawls Jnr went on to claim the dogs "bit, clawed and physically and mentally injured" him, giving rise to "fear of disease".
Neither has given a statement, according to the BBC.

Whitney Houston auctions personal items
[source: NME.com] Troubled singer Whitney Houston is to auction personal items next week to help pay her debts to a storage company.
The singer is expected to raise more than one million dollars through the sale of clothes from designers Dolce & Gabanna, Versace and Armani at the A.J. Willner auction house in New Jersey.
In a statement, Houston's publicist Nancy Seltzer admitted Whitney will also sell of old tour equipment that's no longer in use.
"Part of the proceeds will go to pay a debt owed to the storage company in keeping with the court order," Seltzer confirmed.
Seltzer added it was "not unusual for an artist to sell off old equipment and costumes no longer needed".
It's believed the auction will be open only to on-premises bidding, with no telephone or email bidding allowed. It will also operate on a strict cash-in-hand basis.

Haitian foreign affairs minister Renald Clerisme told BBC the singer's work had been inspirational.
"We wish we could have several Wyclefs because the country could have gained so much."

Oasis plan colossal new album
[source: NME.com] Noel Gallagher plans to make Oasis's most ambitious album in years when the band reconvene in the studio later this year.
Although he recently claimed he had four "great" songs left from the Don't Believe The Truth sessions, the guitarist told NME.COM he had expanded his vision for the band's seventh studio album.
Noel admitted a recent run of acoustic shows had inspired a new batch of songs, but it's unlikely they'll remain in a stripped-back state.
"All the tunes I've written recently have been on the kind of acoustic side. But for the next record I really fancy doing a record where we just completely throw the kitchen sink at it," he explained. "We haven't done that since Be Here Now [1997 album]. I'd like to get, like, a 100-piece orchestra and choirs and all that stuff.
"I think since Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants [in 2000] we've been trying to prove a point of just bass, drums, guitar and vocals and nothing fancy. But I kind of like fancy! I'd like to make an absolutely f***ing colossal album. Like, two orchestras! Stuff like that."

Justin and Cameron split?
Has pop singer Justin Timberlake ditched long-time girlfriend Cameron Diaz?
According to US celebrity magazine Star, the couple spent the Christmas holidays apart after breaking up in early December. The publication claimed Timberlake told revellers at a Memphis nightclub he and Diaz were "done".
Representatives for the couple are keeping quiet, while Timberlake's ex-girlfriend, real estate agent Veronica Finn, has denied reports she was back in the singer's arms over the holidays.
Finn – the girl who replaced Britney Spears in all-girl group Innosense – told E! News she did spent time with Timberlake over Christmas but was with his entire family, as the pair are still close friends.

Moby opposes Saddam execution
New York DJ and musician Moby has expressed disappointment over the recent execution of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
"Saddam Hussein was a bad man, and a tyrant, and a despot," the musician says. "But I don't know that 'celebrating' his death speaks so highly of the celebrants."
Moby, renowned for his strong Christian beliefs and vegan lifestyle, said he opposes the death penalty.
"I find it especially odd when Christians are pro-death and when Christians celebrate an execution," he argues. "Jesus did kind of say: 'Love your enemies', and 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice'.
"Executing the guilty might satisfy some violent blood-lust within us, but as everyone learns in the first grade, two wrongs don't make a right."

Lily Allen's dog found
UK pop starlet Lily Allen is happy once again, having recovered her stolen pooch, Maggie May.
Last week, Allen begged for information about her missing eight-month-old British bull terrier, which was stolen out of a pal's van on Thursday December 28 while the singer was on holiday.
"I have the best news ever," Allen revealed yesterday via her MySpace page.
"Maggie May is back at home, safe and sound. She is riddled with fleas, a bit sad and very thin, but that's not the point. I can't tell you how overjoyed I am to have her back. I now know there is definitely some sense of community and goodwill left in this country, contrary to what some people might say. I will elaborate on how we got her back in the near future."

Bryan Ferry covers Bob Dylan on new LP
English crooner and former Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry is preparing to release an album of Bob Dylan covers.
Titled Dylanesque, the new album features 11 classic tracks written by the American songwriter, including "The Times They Are A Changin'", "All Along The Watchtower" and "Simple Twist Of Fate".
"My voice has gotten deeper and the album's got an element of roughness to it and, I hope, a kind of haunting quality," Ferry said.
"I got the feeling people expected something fairly refined from me. The singer in me is overjoyed to be singing these songs."
