Guns N' Roses ready Chinese Democracy
[source: NME.com] Guns N' Roses are rumoured to be releasing a new album this year.
The much delayed Chinese Democracy record has been the subject of much speculation after frontman Axl Rose indicated he has been working on the record for nearly a decade.
The group's recent return to the live stage has further fuelled anticipation and now internet reports claim the record will be out next month.
The possibility of Chinese Democracy appearing in November rose after the band announced a series of tour dates - kicking off in Jacksonville on October 20 - and ended their statement with a cryptic phrase: "There are 13 Tuesdays left between now and the end of the year," it read, referring to the day albums are released in America.
Now Rolling Stone have claimed the record will finally see the light of day on November 21 (hinting at the possibility of a UK release for November 20).
This date, however, has not been confirmed by the band's label or management.

[source: NME.com] Yoko Ono has awarded the annual Lennon Ono grants to two organisations advocating peace and harmony.
The recipients of the grant, awarded on what would have been John Lennon's 66th birthday, are Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Center For Constitutional Rights.

The grants were introduced by Ono in 2002, when Israeli Zvi Goldstein and Palestinian Khalil Rabah were honoured.
Medecins Sans Frontieres was formed in 1971 and provides humanitarian aid to war-torn or disadvantaged regions, while the Center For Constitutional Rights is a non-profit group that seeks to uphold human rights in the United States.

Evanescence top the chart
Goth-rockers Evanescence have shot to the top of the Motorola ARIA album charts with second album The Open Door, beating off stiff competition from The Killers (Sam's Town) and Jet (Shine On).
"The making of this record has been really intense, but I've come out feeling purified," singer Amy Lee said earlier this year. She'd not long split from long-term boyfriend Shaun Morgan (Seether).
The band have experienced their own share of trouble since debut album Fallen: original songwriting partner/guitarist Ben Moody was replaced by ex-Cold member Terry Balsamo, who then suffered an untimely stroke.
"I've grown so much since Fallen and Terry is the perfect writing partner," Lee has said of the new combination. "I feel like I've been lifted up to a whole new level of inspiration and possibilities. After all the things we've seen over the past couple of years, beautiful and tragic, in the end I'm really grateful. It has made us create music I could not be more in love with."
Currently on tour in the US, Evanescence will then head to Europe and the UK. There are, however, rumours of an Australian tour in early 2007.

P Diddy to hang up his bling?
At a Manhattan launch party for new album Press Play last Friday, rap mogul P Diddy hinted his upcoming album may be his final solo release.
"To be honest, I would love for it to be the last one," Diddy told journalists. "My first couple of albums talked about drama, death, tragedy, controversy... ups and downs. This album is about love. I would love to end it on a note of love.
"I don't want to overstay my welcome. I ain't never been a cat to overdo it; I don't want to overdo it now. I feel like I'm at my best on this album. It makes people feel good when they hear it. So many things, at the end of the day, are my strong points. I look forward to my acting career."
At pains to point out he didn't want to be like other hip-hop artists who discuss retiring but don't stick to it, Diddy also revealed some of the guests who appear on the new LP. It's a virtual who's who of music, including Cee-Lo from Gnarls Barkley, Nas, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West, Timbaland and many more.
"There ain't never gonna be another Diddy," the man formerly known as Puff Daddy said. "Right now, we all feel like we're on the top of our game. What's kept us in the game so long has been the love."
