Mike Skinner proud of Pete Doherty
[source: NME.com] Mike Skinner revealed he's "proud" of the verse Pete Doherty added to The Streets' "Prangin' Out".
Babyshambles frontman Doherty contributed vocals to the single version of the tune from The Streets' third album, The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living.
"Through a tabloid crossword nailed, junkie rocker hailed," Docherty sings, alongside comments about feeling suicidal when he wakes up too "minging" to perform for fans.
Surprisingly, the pair only met for the first time when NME recently brought them together to discuss the track.
"It was really poetic," Skinner told the Babyshambles singer of their collaboration. "I was a little surprised because I don't know much about your private life, you know. I've speculated… but I don't know what to say really. I was proud."
Responding to the praise, Doherty admitted the experience was "better drugs counselling than a month in The Priory".
"I shouldn't say that, but it's probably true. And it was a cracking tune as well."

Blur still hopeful of Coxon reunion
[source: NME.com] Blur hope to reunite with Graham Coxon for one last album, Alex James has revealed.
The bassist believes the original line-up is "too good a thing to let disintegrate".
And James revealed he is on good terms with the estranged guitarist, who left the band acrimoniously in 2002.
"I've got high hopes that Blur will have a happy four-piece ending," James told the BBC. "I think it would be a shame if it didn't, really. I think we'd all like to make another record. We'd all like to do it with Graham. I've been talking to Graham a bit and hopefully I can persuade him. I'm going to have to beg him though."
While Coxon has enjoyed solo success, James and singer Damon Albarn have been concentrating on side-projects since 2003's Think Tank – James with WigWam and Damon Albarn with Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad And The Queen.
But James insisted Blur would be back in action soon.
"One way or another, there'll be another Blur album, with or without Graham… but hopefully with Graham. I think it's definitely worth trying.
"I'm sure Paul McCartney feels the same, but I still don't think we've made our best record yet. That's one of the things you get when you're a musician. You think, 'I'm going to do something brilliant in a minute'. If you don't think that, you've got to stop."

Glastonbury rule out The Boss
[source: NME.com] Glastonbury organisers have admitted Bruce Springsteen will not appear at next year's festival.
The singer had been strongly linked with a headlining slot at the 2007 event, however organiser Emily Eavis revealed the three main acts have been booked… and The Boss is nowhere in sight.
"There's been lots of talk about next year's headliners, and we're pleased to say we have finally decided on all three of them," Eavis explained. "Some of the rumours have been close, but none have been totally right yet, and Bruce isn't going to be appearing."

Justin Timberlake cleans up at MTV awards
US singer Justin Timberlake dominated last night's MTV Europe Awards in Denmark, taking home two of the night's biggest prizes. Not only that, but he hosted the event as well!
"Thanks MTV. Thanks Copenhagen," he gushed as he collected the Best Male award. "And thanks to my mum for birthing me Best Male."
Timberlake had previously joked with the crowd that he'd only won the Best Pop category after agreeing to act as the evening's presenter.
Meanwhile, US rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers won Best Album for Stadium Arcadium; Gnarls Barkley won MTV's Future Sound award, as well as Best Song for "Crazy"; pop siren Christina Aguilera beat Madonna, Beyoncé and Shakira for Best Female; and Depeche Mode won Best Group.
Kanye West, who took a gong for Best Hip Hop Rapper, was annoyed when "Touch The Sky" was pipped by Justice Vs Simian's "We Are Your Friends" for Best Video.
"I worked for a month on that video and I wanted to walk home with that award," he argued. "That was some complete bullshit, a spreading-the-wealth thing."

Ground Components lose gear
Melbourne four-piece Ground Components had a stack of equipment stolen earlier this week from a Ford Maverick parked in North Fitzroy.
Keyboard player Dallas Paxton pleaded for anyone with information about the theft, which occurred in the early hours of Monday October 30, to come forward.
"The thieves snatched thousands of dollars worth of gear," he revealed.
The equipment would only be of use to someone with good knowledge of sound equipment and included mics, reverb units and mixers.
Anybody with information should email dallas@groundcomponents.com.

Frank Black: no new Pixies LP
Pixies frontman Frank Black has quelled rumours suggesting the band are about to start work on a new album.
"It's all bullshit," Black said yesterday, denying reports he'd told an enquiring journalist the group were due to start recording in January.
"I mean, I made it very clear that was not what I was saying, but I can only… ah, whatever," he laughed.
Currently on a solo tour throughout the US, Black merely admitted the legendary rockers were getting together to jam in early 2007 and would see how things pan out.
