Metric begin work on new album
[source: NME.com] Metric have revealed they are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to 2005's Live It Out.
Frontwoman Emily Haines said she and guitarist James Shaw, along with Sebastian Grainger from Death From Above 1979, have purchased a studio in Toronto.
"We just got this amazing space and the first recording and writing sessions are in there right now," Haines said.
"We've written about 15 songs. We're starting to hone in and choose some of our favourites."
Haines said the band plan to release the as-yet-untitled album some time next year.
"It'll be a summer album, regardless of when it's released," she said. "It definitely will have a summer atmosphere."
The band will preview the new material during a handful of Canadian shows scheduled for later this month.

Blur to reunite with Coxon?
[source: NME.com] Bassist Alex James has again fuelled hopes Blur will reunite with Graham Coxon.
The bassist claims the original four-piece want to give it one last try. If the reunion doesn't work out, they'll simply go their separate ways.
"We're all heading into the studio together this summer – Graham's coming too," James told Dotmusic. "We're gonna see if we've still got it. If not, I think we'll just call it a day."
Should their time in the studio go to plan, the ensuing recording will be the first since Blur's 2003 release Think Tank. Those sessions saw Coxon famously quit the band for good, while James, Damon Albarn and Dave Rowntree finished the album without him.

Pete Wentz launches New York bar
[source: NME.com] Fall Out Boy singer Pete Wentz launched his hotly anticipated New York bar Angels And Kings on Monday April 30 and claimed the venue's so relaxed clubbers will be able to have sex in the toilets.
Wentz, Gym Class Heroes singer Travis McCoy and Yellow Fever designer Jamison Ernest planned to open Angels And Kings in New York's East Village for their "loser" pals to hang out and do what comes naturally.
"It will be a bit of a dive, which we need," Wentz told the New York Post.
"We finally have a place where all our loser friends can hang out! We'd had enough of all the pretentious clubs with strict door policies, which feel uptight when you finally get in.
"We really just want somewhere we can hang out and be ourselves. I want to be like any other regular and drink umbrella cocktails."
Ernest added: "This will be a place that anyone can go and have sex in the bathroom and not get in trouble."

Bono pushes for education reform
U2 frontman Bono is switching his attentions from third world poverty to education.
The singer teamed with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and other US lawmakers to add support to potential American legislation change. Bono is hoping the new laws would add more than US$10billion in education aid for millions of under-privileged children across the globe.
With over 77 million kids – 38 million in Africa alone – lacking access to schooling, the U2 frontman believes the US aid will help kick-start a global effort.
"The United States is just one-third of this," Bono told the assembled politicians. "Your money will be certainly doubled up and I will be working on trebling it. I think we can guarantee the double."

It'll be album number ten for Minogue and her first release since recovering from breast cancer and splitting with actor boyfriend Oliver Martinez.
"We've recorded one proper track so far and then we were working on a couple more last week," Harris revealed yesterday, guaranteeing fans will get "at least one song" from Minogue that's "dirty and gay".
Minogue's latest collaborator hails from Dumfries in Scotland and had a UK hit earlier this year with "Acceptable In The 80s".
