Slayer album pulled after protests
[source: NME.com] New Slayer album Christ Illusion has been withdrawn in India after protests by religious groups.
Billboard reported EMI Virgin India recalled all copies of the LP after Christian organisation Catholic Secular Forum took offence to the album cover's depiction of Christ and the lyrics to "Skeleton Christ".
The organisation also argued the record "will affect the sensibilities of Muslims on the track 'Jihad' and secular Indians who have respect for all faiths".
EMI India marketing manager Kaveri Khullar said they had met with the CSF and were apologetic.
"[We assured] them that all copies of the album will be pulled out. We have no plans of re-issuing it in any way."

Boy Kill Boy prepare new single
[source: NME.com] Boy Kill Boy will release a new single in support of the War Child charity.
"Shoot Me Down" is the fourth single to be lifted from debut album Civilian.
"Back in '95 I was lucky to spend a couple of months in Uganda with a home-grown organisation called The Ruwenzori Project," singer Chris Peck explained.
"With this, and through visiting neighbouring schools and orphanages, I had a pretty up-close experience of war's devastation on the community, especially on the kids.
"Those stories have since stayed with me so now I'm delighted to have anything to do with War Child and their long-term vision."

U2 signs with new label
U2 have split with long-time label Universal Music Group's Island Records.
Originally owned by music industry impresario Chris Blackwell, Island signed the band back in March 1980. Blackwell sold the label in 1989.
U2 are staying in the same family, however. Their new home is Universal's Mercury Records.
"We foster strong relationships at Universal Music," a UMG spokeswoman revealed to Reuters. "We have the best artists and the best executives and we're proud of how closely they work together."
The split with Island is said to have been friendly and occurred largely because the band - who have sold upward of 170 million albums worldwide - wanted to stick with former Island executive Jason Iley who transferred to Mercury in 2005.
The final U2 release on Island will be another greatest-hits CD, set to hit stores in November. It will contain a new song, plus a cover of a Skids track recorded with US punk trio Green Day and producer Rick Rubin.
U2's Vertigo tour hits Australia in November.

Fall Out Boy reveal new album info
"Inevitably all bands trash their old songs, which we love, and insist they have come up with an entirely new formula... then you hear the record and it sounds, basically, for all intents and purposes, exactly like the band has always sounded!"
That's Fall Out Boy bassist/frontman Pete Wentz talking up the release of their new LP, which the Chicago group are currently working on in the US. Due for release sometime "in January or early February", the as-yet-untitled album will feature guitar solos by Panic! At The Disco's Ryan Ross and New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert, as well as a guest spot from Babyface.
Fall Out Boy have recorded 14 songs with producer Neal Avron, and there's more to come.
"I think people get sick of bands and pictures and personalities," Wentz revealed, "but everyone is always craving good music. Hopefully that is what we will deliver."

Robbie Williams gets rude on film
English pop star Robbie Williams will issue his new album, Rudebox, on Saturday October 21. But he's also asked a selection of guerrilla filmmakers to make seven short films to compliment the LP, telling them they could use as much or as little from the album as they wanted.
"This is the record I've always wanted to make. It's reignited how I think about what I can do with music myself," Williams said. "Just like in music, today you can create a masterpiece out of an iBook and some digital footage, as much as you can in a fancy studio. I'm very excited to see what the filmmakers can come up with."
An eighth film is yet to be made. Budding directors from around the world are invited to enter a competition to create their own short music film for "The 80s", one of the album's tracks. Entrants will have their work judged by Williams and an esteemed panel, who will then select a winner to scoop a grand prize of £7,500 (AU$18,800). An "audience award" will also be on offer.
For more info, see Robbie's official site (http://www.robbiewilliams.com). The competition closes on Monday November 13.

The Bees head Down Under
Formed by Isle Of Wight natives Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher over a love of lashings of hammond organ, a big bassline, a dirty old guitar riff, a sweet harmony and someone off in the distance having a ball with an old pee-yanner, English outfit The Bees have announced they're heading to Australia for the first time for shows in December and January.
They'll play their own shows as well as a slot at the Marion Bay Falls Festival.
Tickets for their venue shows go on sale Friday October 20. Their latest LP, The Bees Free The Bees, is out now on EMI Virgin.

Make Poverty History concert announced
Nineteen-year-old Dan Adams detests poverty so much he's organised a free rock concert in Melbourne as part of the worldwide Make Poverty History campaign.
The concert will feature Eskimo Joe, Evermore, Sarah Blasko, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly and the John Butler Trio. U2 frontman Bono - in town for his band's Vertigo tour - has been asked to speak at the event, which takes place on Friday November 17 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
"Our generation has this amazing opportunity to end poverty," Adams said. "Australia wasn't part of the G8 meeting but we are part of the G20, so it's an awesome opportunity to show we do support the Make Poverty History campaign."
Some 15,000 free tickets will be available via a balloting system to be conducted via SMS later in the month.
"It's not just about coming to an Evermore gig," Evermore frontman Jon Hume said when asked about his band's involvement. "There's a larger reason behind it. Hopefully we can achieve something positive."
The free concert coincides with the G20 global economic summit in Melbourne.
