Courtney Love sets the record straight
[source: NME.com] Courtney Love has rubbished comments she reportedly made regarding Amy Winehouse.
US news services claimed Love had expressed shock at the singer's substance abuse after apparently witnessing it first-hand.
However, speaking to NME.COM, Love branded the comments "ill-informed nonsense".
"I said no such thing," the former Hole frontwoman said. "I care deeply about her talent – I love this record – and I wouldn't comment even if I did have any knowledge. She hasn't hurt anyone I care for and she hasn't hurt me. My deepest apologies to anyone who believes this nonsense, that I would judge or finger-point unless I felt that people's lives were on the line.
"I keep my own counsel about sex, drugs and rock and roll and I do not judge others unless I know they are a danger to other people beloved in my own life. If that's the case then they'd better watch out. Otherwise, my philosophy is simple: live and let live.
"Sorry, this is all just not true. My apologies to Ms Winehouse for this ill-informed nonsense. It's not something I would say or do."

Bobby Brown takes Whitney Houston to court
[source: NME.com] Bobby Brown has appealed a court ruling that gave his ex-wife, Whitney Houston, sole custody of their teenage daughter.
Brown filed suit in Orange County on Friday 31 August in an attempt to get a judge to overrule the decision. He said he hasn't seen 14-year-old Bobbi Kristina since June.
Brown said it was unlikely he would see her anytime soon and claimed ex-wife Houston has attempted to "eliminate" him from his daughter's life.
Meanwhile, Houston said Brown was "almost totally uninvolved" in taking care of their daughter.
Brown will reappear in court on Monday 22 October to plead his case, while Houston will give her required deposition via video from Atlanta. Houston moved to the Southern city with her daughter in order to record her new album.

Belle & Sebastian star searching for singers
[source: NME.com] Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch is looking for performers/singers to contribute to the soundtrack of a new music film.
The indie star is developing a project called God Help The Girl, and is looking for various singers to record the songs for the soundtrack.
The vocalists will represent the main characters in the film, of which there are three (two female, one male), but he will also be looking for other singers to sing in support roles.
Members of Belle & Sebastian will be involved as the studio band for some of the recording, which is expected to take place later this year.
Singers who are interested in taking part can submit a version of one of two songs – "The Psychiatrist Is In" or "Funny Little Frog" – already recorded for the film.
The songs can be found on the Belle & Sebastian website.

Kings Of Leon to channel George Michael on new LP?
US southern rockers Kings Of Leon – due in Australia in December for the Falls Festival – will head back into the studio in February.
According to singer Caleb Followill, the Southern brothers' latest sound is inspired by 80s English pop stars Wham!.
"Hopefully we'll be in the studio by Valentine's Day to start the next one," Followill told London radio station XFM.
"We try to strike while the iron's hot. And we're writing some really good songs right now. Because of the thrill of being number one [in Ireland], I think the songs we're writing now just really have something about them. It's a passion that I think will carry on. This is gonna be like a Wham! record."

Kylie Minogue's new LP "almost complete"
Aussie pop starlet Kylie Minogue has confirmed her highly anticipated new LP is almost finished, and will hit shelves across the world in November.
"We are now in the final stages of the album and are having to make some difficult but exciting decisions about which songs will stay and which ones will go," Minogue said.
It's believed there are 40-odd tracks (some written by the likes of Scissor Sisters, Calvin Harris, Groove Armada and Madonna's producer Stuart Price) up for consideration.
"I think you can safely say that [first single] '2 Hearts' will be staying. I started working on this album 18 months ago and can't believe it is nearly finished."
Meanwhile, model Sarai Givati – the new girlfriend of Minogue's ex, Oliver Martinez – is adamant she wasn't responsible for breaking up the couple.
"We had a relationship but there was no lying on his part and to my knowledge there was no overlap between him seeing Kylie and then seeing me," Givati told London newspaper The People.
"When I asked him why he had split from Kylie, all he said was: 'It was time to break up' and that the relationship had run its course."

Beyoncé pleads with fans to donate food
Ex-Destiny's Child singer Beyoncé Knowles is hoping her signature will be the sweetener to convince fans to help out at her upcoming food drives.
The singer has asked fans to drop off either $US5 or three cans of food before her concert this week in Los Angeles, California, with the first 1000 to do so receiving a signed photo of the star.
Together with Pastor Rudy Rasmus (the minister of Knowles' hometown, Houston, Texas), Knowles is hoping to raise funds as she has in other cities on her tour so far. The singer has already collected 4,610 kilograms of food and donations of AU$4,659 from gigs performed in Houston, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington.
The goods have provided more than 16,000 meals.

Linkin Park offer up houses for Hurricane Katrina
Perhaps inspired by the charity work of Oprah Winfrey – who's pledged more than AU$12,259,000 in aid and built more than 50 houses so far – nu-metallers Linkin Park are offering to build a house for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The band, who are due to land in Australia next month, currently donate US$1 from every ticket sold on their Projekt Revolution Tour to help construct new homes for victims of the 2005 New Orleans floods.
Now, in a project named after new single "What I've Done", they've launched an online competition to recruit fans to help build a special house.
The winning fans will help construct the property alongside the band.
"We will help build [the home] alongside the family that will move into the house," Linkin Park's David Farrell said. "We hope to remind people that there is still a lot of work to be done."

Usher marries… again
Having called off his first ceremony and then tied the knot in private, US r&b star Usher has celebrated his nuptials to Tameka Foster for a third time.
Usher Raymond IV joined 200 of his closest friends on Saturday 1 September at a 16th-century-style French chateau resort just outside Atlanta, Georgia. The couple originally married in the singer's lawyer's office a month ago.
Foster is currently expecting Usher's first child, while she already has three children of her own. According to People.com, guests at the reception ate "five-tiered white-chocolate-covered wedding cake created by the same bakery that recently did actress Eva Longoria's confection".

Indian film company sues Timbaland for sampling
Saregama India Ltd has filed a copyright infringement suit against composer and rapper Timbaland and his labels (Interscope, Universal Music Group, Aftermath Entertainment and G-Unit Records).
The company claim one of its songs was used in "Put You On The Game", a track Timbaland produced for hip-hop star The Game's 2005 LP The Documentary.
Saregama India own almost 50 per cent of music recorded in the region, and in 2002 successfully filed a lawsuit against Dr Dre for a similar incident with Indian artist Lata Mangeshkar.
