Noel Gallagher tells Bono to shut up
[source: NME.com] Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has laid into Bono, telling him to "shut the f##k up about Africa".
The outspoken Mancunian singled out U2 when speaking about bands who focus on political issues rather than playing their back catalogues.
"Play 'One' and shut the f##k up about Africa," Gallagher said.
He also slammed Radiohead.
"Thom Yorke sat a piano singing, 'This is f###ed up' for half-an-hour: we all know that, Mr Yorke. Who wants to sing the news? No matter how much you sit there twiddling, going, 'We're all doomed', at the end of the day people will always want to hear you play 'Creep'. Get over it."
Oasis are set to pick up the Outstanding Achievement honour at the 2007 Brit Awards ceremony next week (Wednesday February 14).
"We had two number ones [in 2005], so we're punching our weight with young kids. We still look good," the Oasis guitarist told The Telegraph.

R. Kelly misses court appearance
Troubled R&B star R. Kelly failed to appear in court on Wednesday February 7 to fight child pornography charges.
He had a good excuse, however. Kelly was in hospital after undergoing surgery for a burst appendix.
Robert Kelly is pleading not guilty to 14 counts of child pornography after he was charged in 2002 with videotaping sex acts with an underage girl.
According to Kelly's lawyer, the singer's recovering well and should attend his next court appearance, scheduled for Wednesday February 21.

Pink loses pooch
US pop star Pink, who's heading to Australia in April for her I'm Not Dead tour, has a new tattoo to show off.
The singer now has a permanent reminder of her beloved bulldog Elvis, who accidentally drowned in the home pool last month.

Norah Jones told to lose weight
Having a number one album in the US just isn't good enough sometimes.
Norah Jones recently released her second chart-topping LP, Not Too Late, and scored a role in Hollywood flick My Blueberry Nights. But the 27-year-old was shocked to hear she'd need to lose weight before filming could commence.
"I probably shouldn't say this but I was asked to lose a few pounds," Jones admitted. "First I got really mad, then I got nervous, thinking [I was fat].
"It was a horrible thing to hear but I understand the game. I was just amazed that it really was an issue and it made me have a lot more sympathy for really skinny actresses."
Co-starring alongside Jude Law and Rachel Weisz, the down-to-earth singer said she didn't let the criticism get to her and conceded she'd never look like "those skinny actresses".
"I still think they need to eat a cheeseburger!" she joked.
