Timbaland offers to help Britney Spears
[source: NME.com] Timbaland has expressed interest in working with Britney Spears.
The super producer, who recently masterminded hits for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, said he hopes Timberlake will lend a hand.
"I feel her pain [and] it really bothers me," Timbaland told Entertainment Weekly. "I'm the type of person who tries to save the world. I just want to take her away, go overseas, and work [it] out."
In recent weeks, Spears has been in and out of rehab programmes in California, and her head-shaving incident and clubbing antics with celebrity friends have been highly publicised. She has not put out an original album since 2003's In The Zone.
Timbaland said Timberlake agreed to collaborate with him and Spears, "as long as she was serious".
"I just want to hold her hand," Timbaland said. "I want her to be in my camp, to be around Justin. I need Justin to talk to her. Help her, please!"

"Lust For Life is full of optimism, as young people should be… but too many aren't," the singer said of the garden.
"I'm honoured The Children's Society's garden is inspired by my music and wholeheartedly support the work they do. They rock!"
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show will run from Tuesday May 22 until Monday May 28.

The Concretes return after split
[source: NME.com] Swedish guitar-pop act The Concretes have returned with their first new material since the departure of singer Victoria Bergsman in July 2006.
Almost nine months later, the band have posted a new single on their MySpace site. According to text on the site, "Kids" is the first single from an upcoming album.
"The song is about Lisa [Milberg] and Maria [Erkisson] growing up, glued to the record player and, over time, developing an obsession with music that much later resulted in this little pop group of ours.
"The single comes with three more songs but we'll tell you about that in a fortnight!"
The band's last release before Bergsman's departure was 2006's In Colour.

Augie March win 2006 Australian Music Prize
Melbourne five-piece Augie March have won the coveted Australian Music Prize – known as The Amp Award – at a ceremony held last night at Sydney's Home nightclub.

Eminem ordered to Dublin
The Irish High Court has ordered Detroit rapper Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers) to attend a hearing and give evidence in a case about the last-minute cancellation of one of his shows.
The rapper was set to perform at the legendary Slane Castle back on September 17, 2005, where historic concerts from the likes of Thin Lizzy and U2 have previously taken place.
With tickets selling out in under an hour, Eminem later cancelled the date, citing exhaustion. Concert promoters MCD are seeking AU$2.53 million from various insurance companies.
Now, despite the rapper's protestations, he's been ordered to appear in person to take the stand.
Justice Peter Kelly argued Eminem's testimony was important and "possibly crucial" in settling the case. He insisted Ireland's constitutional mandate requires justice to be administered in public.

Art Of Fighting hit the road
Introspective Melbourne four-piece Art Of Fighting release Runways, their third full-length album, next week.
Recorded in their hometown with engineer Steven Schram (Ground Components), frontman Ollie Browne has described the follow-up to 2004's Second Story as "open and relaxed".
"When we play live the sound is very stripped back, very spacious," Browne said.
"We wanted to capture that as much as possible. We wanted this album to be very direct – warm and honest, the sound of us in a room."
With trips to Japan and the UK pencilled in, the band will play a quick series of shows in Australia to promote the release, bringing Melbourne rockers SubAudible Hum along for the ride.
Tour dates:
Saturday May 12 – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Friday May 18 – The Factory, Sydney
Saturday May 19 – The Zoo, Brisbane
Friday June 1 – Jive, Adelaide

Jimi Hendrix: no vodka, thanks
The family of legendary Seattle guitarist Jimi Hendrix have filed a lawsuit against an alcohol company for using the performer's name to market vodka.
Janie Hendrix, the guitarist's adopted sister and CEO of family company Experience Hendrix said the campaign by Hendrix Electric Vodka was a "sick joke".
Hendrix's death in 1970 was linked to alcohol consumption.
"We are greatly concerned that there may be a perception that Experience Hendrix has, in some way, authorised this sale of vodka," she said in a statement.
"As a matter of strict policy, we have never promoted an alcoholic beverage."
The man behind the vodka, Seattle businessman Craig Dieffenbach, is arguing the family's lawsuit is without merit, citing a 2005 court case that ruled Experience Hendrix doesn't own the rights to Hendrix's name and image, only his music.

Shortlist Music Prize returns
The US equivalent of Australia's Amp Award and the UK's Mercury Music Prize – the Shortlist Music Prize – is back once again in 2007.
The American competition was axed two years ago after organisers disagreed about the system and went on to form new accolades that have since been disbanded.
Now, the best records released in the USA in 2006 are being considered for the sixth Shortlist Music Prize.
Nominations have been sought from artists across the globe, including Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, Sufjan Stevens, Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall, Panic! At the Disco, Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and a stack of music journalists.
All eligible LPs must have sold less than 500,000 copies in the States, with previous winners including the likes of TV On The Radio, Sigur Rós, N*E*R*D and Damien Rice.
The long list – which was released yesterday and will be pared down to a final ten – contains 61 albums from artists such as Wolfmother, Against Me!, Beck, Beirut, The Gossip, Howling Bells, Spank Rock, The Strokes and more.
