Madonna adoption bid challenged
[source: NME.com] Madonna's bid to adopt a child has been challenged by Malawian child rights groups.
The singer is facing a possible injunction from the Eye Of The Child organisation after she filed adoption papers for one-year-old David Banda.
The group are supported by another Malawian human rights group, The Civil Liberties Committee, in their bid to stop the interim adoption, BBC News reported.
"It's not like selling property," an Eye Of The Child statement read. "It's about safeguarding the future of a human being who, because of age, cannot express an opinion."
Malawian officials claim Madonna will spend time with the child while she awaits the final adoption approval, which could take two years.
David has been cared for at the Home Of Hope Orphan Care Centre near Zambia since his mother died after childbirth complications.

Lou Reed brings Berlin to Australia
[source: NME.com] Lou Reed will fly to Australia in December to help premiere the Berlin stage show.
Following the December dates, the production will run seven times through mid-January at Sydney's St. Ann's Warehouse.
Reed is due to be joined onstage by Antony Hegarty from Antony & The Johnsons, singer Sharon Jones, Fernando Saunders and Rob Wasserman.
St. Ann's Artistic Director Susan Feldman said she's wanted to produce Berlin for a decade.
"It's been gratifying to engage Lou and some of his closest collaborators - Bob Ezrin, Julian Schnabel, Hal Willner - in what's sure to be a labour of love and an important part of rock history. 'Berlin' is a sad song about people on the edge, that, at its highest moments, achieves a shimmering elegance."

Berlin dates:
December 14 to 17 - St. Ann's Warehouse, Sydney
January 18 to 20 - St. Ann's Warehouse, Sydney

Guns N' Roses will hit the road in the US with former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach.
"We are so excited to be going on tour with Guns N' Roses," Bach said. "I have waited for the perfect opportunity to tour North America again and this is absolutely the greatest tour any of us could ever imagine."

LCD Soundsystem: let's get physical
Fans of James Murphy (aka LCD Soundsystem) should prepare to strap on their trainers for a session in the gym.
Murphy has composed "45:33", a track that's as long as its title and written specifically for those wanting to work out.
"The idea, to make a long piece of music built around an arc designed for running, appealed to me because it was so anathematic to what you're typically asked to do as an artist (make easily digestible lumps of music for albums, or the radio, or whatever)," Murphy said.
"Our band, LCD, tends to do a lot of running on tour, mainly to keep sane and resist the inevitability of turning into a bus-bound potato."
Murphy is also currently at work on a brand new LCD Soundsystem album, to be released in March 2007.

The Stooges head for the studio
Their reformation was one of the most talked-about events in music during 2005. Now legendary pre-punk rockers The Stooges are working on their first album together in 33 years.
"All the same passions and problems are there," frontman Iggy Pop said of the recording sessions. "But the problems are in a more muted style. I'm still the show-off in the group that gets all the attention. Everyone has their role. It's pretty much the way it was in high school."
