Room for Beck drummer in Crowded House
[source: NME.com] Beck drummer Matt Sherrod has joined the recently reunited Crowded House, according to Australian website Undercover.
Original drummer Paul Hester passed away in 2005 and the band recently held auditions after deciding to reform.
Undercover also reported former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, now a full member of Modest Mouse, has been working with Crowded House frontman Neil Finn. Marr has collaborated with Finn on a number of tracks for forthcoming Crowded House album Time On Earth.
Crowded House will play the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival next month in California and are currently organising a larger tour.
Time On Earth will be the band’s fifth studio album and their first release since disbanding in 1996.

Guns N’ Roses fans protest album delay
[source: NME.com] Guns N' Roses fan-site GNRonline has taken the extraordinary step of shutting itself down in protest against the delay of new album Chinese Democracy.
The site’s administrators issued a statement explaining their displeasure.
“The lack of respect, clearness and mutual loyalty are just some of the reasons that has brought us down to this painful conclusion… we just can’t afford to waste our heads on a project that has never even taken us into consideration.
“We still want to believe in Axl Rose and his record and we greatly wish that Chinese Democracy would see the light of day before February 2008. If that will be the case we will make our best effort to re-open the site. Otherwise, our domains will be lost and that will be the end of it.”

Howling Bells singer proposes at gig
[source: NME.com] Howling Bells singer Juanita Stein has been playing cupid.
The band were playing Fleece in Bristol last Wednesday February 28 when Stein was asked by a fan to propose on his behalf.
“I was given a post it-note with this dude’s name on it, Gary, asking me if I would propose to his girlfriend, Charlotte, for him over the mic right before ‘Setting Sun’," Stein said.
“So, after singling her out in the audience, I asked her if she would take his hand in marriage. I suspect she was probably very embarrassed, but of course she said yes and the entire crowd erupted into applause and cheers. It was a very touching moment!”

Good Charlotte man in shoving incident
[source: NME.com] Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden may face police questioning after a run-in with a photographer outside Los Angeles restaurant Mr Chow.
According to Beverly Hills Police, a photographer filed a report in which she claimed Madden struck her on the left breast while he was escorting girlfriend Nicole Richie from the back door of the restaurant to his car.
Footage of the incident, which has surfaced on gossip site TMZ.com, shows Madden repeating asking the alleged victim to get out of the way before brushing past her.
A spokesperson for the band refused to comment on the incident.

“It’s so much fun,” Stefani said of touring. “I love the idea of being able to go into my theatrical side. To hear and see people singing the songs back to me – they bought the record, they know the songs – [is great]. It kind of makes it worth it, so I have to go on tour.”

Yeah Yeah Yeahs work on new songs
New York indie darlings Yeah Yeah Yeahs are busy writing tracks for their third release.
Energetic singer Karen O posted a note to fans yesterday on the band’s website, revealing the trio have regrouped for the month of March to work on new material.
“We are about to be reunited for the rest of March, working on a project that we hope all of you will dig into eventually,” O wrote.
She also provided fans with some music tips.
“Just wanted to tip y’all off on my favourite new records: Nine Time That Same Song by Love Is All. I know it’s said often but I can’t remember the last time I’ve listened to a record over again and then over again and then again and again. Check them out if you’re a curious person with 'needs'.
"The other is Cryptograms by Deerhunter… [they're] not too bad lookin’ either. In fact, they are good lookin'. Yeah, go look ’em up!”

Kenny Loggins gets Hollywood star
The man who shot to fame with “Footloose” has been inducted to Hollywood’s RockWalk.
Established in 1985 to honour musicians who’ve made a “significant contribution to the history of music”, the RockWalk saw 59-year-old Grammy winner Kenny Loggins recently put his hands in wet cement outside the Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard.
Loggins began his career as a folk singer back in the 60s, before joining forces with singer/producer Jim Messina. It's a combination that went on to bring him three platinum and five gold albums.
Loggins’ latest LP, How About Now, was released last month.

Youth Group hit the road
Last year's “Forever Young” single and second LP Casino Twilight Dogs did wonders for Youth Group's international profile.
But before the Sydney indie group head overseas again, they've promised to play dates in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra, starting in late April.
The band’s latest single has just been remixed by good friend and Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla, while US critics are salivating over the release – none more so than Rolling Stone USA, who claimed Youth Group are “destined for hugeness”.
Tickets for the Australian shows go on sale Friday March 23.

Tour dates:

Friday April 27 – The Factory, Sydney (all-ages & over 18)
Saturday April 28 – The Zoo, Brisbane
Friday May 11 – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Saturday May 12 – UCU, Canberra
