Noel Gallagher: "solo album is coming"
[source: NME.com] Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher has confirmed he already has one eye on a solo album.
Speaking in the new issue of NME, Gallagher said that following his recent solo concert appearances he was making tentative steps towards a solo project.
"I've actually got a backlog of songs that are slowly building up. The thing about a solo record is the time to do one is between Oasis world tours because you'd have a good couple of years.
"But it takes me so long to write the songs that eventually I run out of time [before Oasis begins again], but I've got a backlog now of about four or five songs that are probably too far in the past as far as the band in concerned, but could work on my record… it's coming."
Gallagher also said Oasis have already written most of the follow-up to 2005's Don't Believe The Truth.
"The next one, in theory, is already written. I've got eight songs that I'm pretty happy with. I think Liam's got one or two that he thinks are brilliant. We're waiting for Gem and Andy. It's just a case of sitting down and saying, 'When do we want to do this?'."

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band ready for new album?
[source: NME.com] A new Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band album could be in the works.
The singer and the band's last release was 2001's Live In New York City album. They also collaborated on "Land Of Hope And Dreams" on 2001's God Bless America compilation.
Now, guitarist Little Steven Van Zandt has told Spinner a new album could be on its way.
"We gotta make a record, which could happen soon," he said. "I don't have any reason to say this other than my own instinct but I just get a vibe it's going to be sooner than later.
"[Springsteen] literally could call me today, we could have a new album out and be on the road within three months."

Snoop Dogg hit with drugs charges
[source: NME.com] Snoop Dogg has been charged with sale or transportation of marijuana and possession of a gun following his arrest last year in Los Angeles.
Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested in October after police found drugs and a firearm in his car. Upon searching his home, a second gun was discovered.
Broadus was convicted of a felony in 1990 for possession of drugs for sale, which means he is now being charged as a felon in possession of a firearm. That could spell up to four years in prison for the rappper.
Snoop Dogg was recently denied entry to the UK, which resulted in the cancellation of a joint tour with P. Diddy. He was also arrested last month in Stockholm for suspected drugs use.
He is due in court on Wednesday.

TV Producer calls for Jim Morrison pardon
[source: NME.com] A conviction of indecent exposure against legendary Doors frontman Jim Morrison may be quashed almost 40 years after he was charged.
TV Producer Dave Diamond has sought the pardon from Florida Governor Charlie Crist who is said to be reviewing the case.
Morrison was arrested following a 1969 Miami concert and was charged with indecent exposure and profanity.
Diamond's intention is to have Morrison, a Florida native, remembered as an artist and not a criminal. He is arguing that had the incident occurred in current times, the singer would not have been charged.
Morrison suffered heart failure, aged 27, in Paris two years after the incident. At the time of his death, the case was still under appeal.

Grateful Dead manager goes to prison
Ronald Leon Rakow, a former manager for San Francisco psychedelica outfit Grateful Dead, has been sentenced to five years in prison for tax evasion.
The 69-year-old manager – who left the music industry to go into "nutritional consulting" in Los Angeles – owes AU$2.7 million in taxes and was convicted after a two-week trial that showed he'd been hiding assets since 1985.
Despite asking the US District Court for a lenient sentence, Judge Margaret M. Morrow rejected Rakow's request, saying he chose to break the law in order to "support his lifestyle". Rakow will begin his sentence immediately.

Guns N' Roses tour postponed
Having just announced their world tour, Guns N' Roses have been forced to postpone their trek thanks to an injury to bassist Tommy Stinson (formerly of The Replacements).
"I feel so bad right now," Stinson said.
"I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop'. The next morning my hand looked like a balloon. I went to see my doctor and, while the good news is that it's not broken, the bad is news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. We had our last rehearsal a few days ago and shipped the gear to Japan and then this happened. I feel horrible."
The band won't play a show now until they appear at a South African festival at the end of April. While there's no comment on any postponement of their Australian dates so far, internet rumours suggest the tour may be delayed until July.

Joss Stone producer vows never to work with star again
Joss Stone's producer, Novel, says he'll never work with the singer again after failing to be given any songwriting credits on her latest LP.
"She did a little bit of writing, but I wrote, produced, arranged, vocal arranged, did backgrounds," Novel said of the tracks on the singer's recent album, Introducing Joss Stone.
"I was never paid for the songs; I just get my publishing. Now she has this record with [producer] Raphael [Saadiq] and they changed some of the songs. I got no production credits, I didn't get paid, so let me at least get what's rightfully mine as a writer."
Stone's management has refused to comment on the charges.

Justin Timberlake to team with Madonna?
US singer Justin Timberlake will lend his "sexy" skills to the queen of pop. In an interview with British newspaper The Sun, Timberlake revealed he's currently at work writing tracks for Madonna's upcoming album.
Due out in November, the album will also feature the beat skills of producers Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.
"I have been working on some new music," Timberlake revealed this week when asked if he was currently writing. "But it's not for myself. I'm writing for other people. I'm working on some stuff for Madonna."
The singer refused to elaborate any further.

Whitney Houston wins custody of daughter
Having cleaned up the drug and alcohol problems that plagued her for years, American songstress Whitney Houston has been awarded custody of her 14-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, whom she shares with ex-hubby Bobby Brown.
The couple's 14-year marriage is officially over this week, with Orange County Superior Court Judge Franz E. Miller finalising divorce proceedings.
Houston did not seek any spousal or child support from her ex, telling the judge she didn't need it. The couple wed back in 1992, when they both had hits like "I Will Always Love You" and "Humpin' Around".

Marc Anthony to pay $3m back taxes
Husband of Jennifer Lopez, US singer Marc Anthony, has been ordered by Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau to pay approximately AU$3 million in back taxes after failing to file tax returns for five years.
Although Anthony hasn't been charged (prosecutors believe the singer thought his accounting firm had been diligent), the court heard he had failed to file returns for more than AU$18.8 million in income from 2000 to 2004.
Lopez isn't involved in the legal wrangling, as she files her income tax separately.
Anthony, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muniz, recently produced Lopez's Spanish language LP, Como Ama una Mujer. He's now agreed to make the payments, with two of his associates pleading guilty to tax felonies. They will be sentenced next week.
