U2 mount songwriting sessions in Africa
[source: NME.com] U2 are in Morocco with long-term production collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, although it's believed the pair's involvement is restricted to songwriting.
"It's the first time we've worked with Brian and Dan in a purely songwriting capacity," Larry Mullen Jr told U2.com. "So it's very different – quite experimental and kind of liberating."
However, the band are reluctant to confirm whether or not the new tracks will appear on the next album.
"We have no plans for the music yet," Bono explained. "We're just going to make it until we can't not put it out!"

Eminem stalked by rap wannabe
[source: NME.com] An Eminem fan went too far when he stole the rapper's number from his ex-wife's phone.
Kyle Spratt stole Kim Mathers' mobile and wrote down Eminem's number before returning the phone. Spratt then called Eminem in the hope that the rapper would agree to listen to a demo tape.
The wannabe musician recorded the phone conversations and turned them into a song called "Slim Sellout". He posted them on www.myspace.com/kylespratt but they have since been removed.
Spratt wrote: "I don't care if he comes back. I don't care if he hears it… But I'm almost positive he will… F**k Eminem."

The Hives team with Pharrell Williams
[source: NME.com] Swedish rockers The Hives have teamed with Pharrell Williams on their new album.
The band have also recorded some songs with Bloc Party producer Jacknife Lee.
"This new album has been recorded all over the world because we thought it was time to have other people involved besides ourselves and our closest friends," singer Howlin Pete said.
"The lion's share of this new album was recorded in Mississippi with producer Dennis Herring. We also met producer Pharrell Williams in Japan a while ago.
"He told us we should record together – something bass-based – and we ended up spending some time in Miami making music with him. Some of his music will end up on The Hives' new record."

Blur head into the studio?
After months of rumours, it seems seminal UK pop outfit Blur are finally ready to re-enter the recording studio.
According to an un-named source who works with the band, the band will start writing and recording a new album in a London studio.
"They've all had lots on with solo projects, cartoon bands and farming," the source told British newspaper The Mirror. "But by the end of [the northern hemisphere] summer, their plates will be clear. They'll go into the studio in November."
Former guitarist Graham Coxon has been discussing the potential reunion since last year.
"Would it be a bit too scary? What would the dynamic be in a studio? Would I have to do promotion? Would I tour? You know, it's a lot of thinking," Coxon told Pitchfork Media. "So I guess I still mull around and think about it every now and then."
Blur's last album was 2003's Think Tank.
