Klaxons discuss NME cover shoot
[source: NME.com] Klaxons have revealed they were at risk of lions attacking during a recent photo shoot in the Californian desert.
Speaking to NME.com, James Righton said the band were taken to a ranch with CSS and educated on how to react to an approaching lion.
"Me and Jamie were quite drunk when the shoot occurred so our recollections are pretty misty. We got taken to this ranch and there was this big sign, saying, 'Beware: lions may attack'. And another, saying, 'If you come face to face with a lion, act like you're not scared by it. And if there's a small child by your side, place them on your shoulders'."
Jamie Reynolds says there was evidence all around them of possible danger:
"There were loads of paw prints in the sand."

Arctic Monkeys cover star auctions T-shirt
[source: NME.com] The cover star of Arctic Monkeys' debut album is auctioning the T-shirt he wore on the sleeve for charity.
Chris McClure is selling the plain white top he wore on Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not on eBay to raise money for a charity set up in aid of late snooker star Paul Hunter. Hunter died a year ago after battling stomach cancer. He was 27.
All proceeds from the T-shirt, which is signed by McClure, will go to the Paul Hunter Foundation, which aims to help underprivileged and disabled children.

Bo Diddley leaves intensive care
[source: NME.com] Bo Diddley has left intensive care after suffering a stroke earlier this month.
The legend was taken to hospital on May 13 after acting disorientated following a show in Council Bluffs but reports suggest he's been moved into a regular room at Creighton University Medical Centre in Omaha.
Business manager Faith Fusillo said: "I was able to speak with him by phone this morning. He wanted to know where his stuff was: his guitar and the money from the gig. I was so happy because that is the Bo that I know and love, and a real indication that Bo is on his way back."
Fusillo added that while Diddley is still having trouble speaking, he appears to have suffered no long-term physical damage from the stroke.

Nick Carter joins the UN
He's dated Paris Hilton, made a reality TV show out of his screwed-up family, and now he's got his heart set on saving dolphins.
Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter has just been named a United Nations Special Ambassador to their Environment Program, which is dedicated to preserving whales and dolphins throughout the world's oceans. Despite admitting he's nervous about his new role, Carter can't wait to begin work.
"There are responsibilities and commitments that I must make," he said, "to be the voice of dolphins [and] whales."
Expect to see the blonde singer featured in global ad campaigns beginning in late 2007.

Mötley Crüe want Paris in jail
Los Angeles rockers Mötley Crüe want socialite Paris Hilton to pay the price for her recent run-ins with the law.
The band have urged fans, via their website, to sign a Throw Paris Hilton In Jail petition.
"Why is the New York Times wasting space talking about Paris Hilton's petition to keep her out of jail for drink driving… twice?" the band's online post asks.
"Join Nikki Sixx, The Exies and other artists in supporting real talent, not bitches like Paris."
Hilton was recently sentenced to 45 days in prison for driving without a license, but is set to spend less than half that time behind bars.

Dolly Parton raises half a million dollars for hospital
Country superstar Dolly Parton held a benefit concert on Sunday May 20 in her native home of Sevier County, Tennessee, to raise funds for a new hospital.
Tickets for the show sold out and the 61-year-old singer raised more than AU$609,000 for the new cancer and medical centre. Parton thanked the audience for "all that money" and said, "I ain't worth it, but the folks in Sevier County are".
Parton said the $12million project – which she's also donated cash to, via her Dollywood theme park – is especially important to her, because the doctor who delivered her worked there.
"He's the one that rode on horseback so many years ago, when I was young back in them mountains," she said of Dr. Robert F. Thomas. "I was born and paid for with a sack of cornmeal."

Britney caught lip-synching
Embattled US pop singer Britney Spears is in trouble again after she was caught lip-synching during a 15-minute concert in Orlando, Florida. Some fans had paid up to AU$609 for tickets.
Halfway through the show, a backing track began skipping and exposed the scam. Spears reportedly played down the incident, turning her back to the audience while she continued to dance until the problem was fixed. Performing just five songs, the crowd booed and jeered the "Toxic" singer. One fan captured the incident on video and later posted it online.

Diana Ross questioned by police
Former Supremes singer Diana Ross has been questioned by US police after reportedly pushing aside a three-year-old girl who had stopped the singer for an autograph.
Twenty-four-year-old British resident Richard Drew claims his daughter, Rainel, fell and hit her head on a door as the 62-year-old singer flew past them, making her way back to her hotel following a concert earlier that night. However, police have revealed no charges will be laid, as the incident was "a complete accident".
