"There ends the connection, apart from the fact me and Alex live together," he said.
"I feel more of an affinity with Manu Chao and modern day rebels, really – Ojos de Brujo, Ian Brown, 3D from Massive Attack, the Dixie Chicks. I feel more akin to those people than I do the Arctic Monkeys."

The announcement follows the recent move by UK group Radiohead, who are allowing fans to decide how much to pay when they download the band's latest longplayer, In Rainbows.

Green Day back in the studio
American pop-punkers Green Day are back in the studio, working on the follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed American Idiot.
Fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting for any new material, however. According to singer and chief songwriter Billy Joe Armstrong, the band have a wealth of new material up their sleeve but no idea when the LP will be released.
"We have a lot of music – something like 45 songs," the singer told the New York Daily News.

The band are keeping mum about where or who they're currently working with, although their label declared writing is "underway at an undisclosed studio in California's East Bay area".

Sting tops worst lyricist poll
UK crooner Sting – who's currently on tour with reformed act The Police – has been voted the worst lyricist of all time in influential US magazine Blender.
According to the survey, Sting has made the errors of name-dropping Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov ("Don't Stand So Close to Me"), quoting a Volvo bumper sticker ("If You Love Someone Set Them Free"), and generally writing "mountainous pomposity and cloying spirituality".
Also feeling the ire of the publication was Creed frontman Scott Stapp (who came in at number three on the list) and Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher (described by Blender as someone who "seemed incapable of following a metaphor through a single line, let alone a whole verse").
Other artists on the list included Carly Simon, Robert Plant, Paul McCartney, Dan Fogelberg and Stevie Wonder.

P. Diddy vows to care for "secret" daughter
He spent 12 months denying the claims, but now DNA tests have proven rap mogul Sean Combs is Chance Chapman's father he's vowed to take care of his daughter "for the rest of her life".
Fifteen-month-old Chance was conceived by Atlanta resident Sarah Chapman, who fell pregnant while Diddy was with former girlfriend Kim Porter, despite Diddy's previous claims he was faithful.
Combs and Porter are parents to nine-month-old twin daughters D'Lila Star and Jesse James, as well as nine-year-old Justin.
The pair broke up shortly after the twins' birth and, when asked yesterday if the new revelations had anything to do with the split, Diddy admitted it "was definitely part of it".
