Pete Doherty in suicide bid?
[source: NME.com] Pete Doherty allegedly tried to commit suicide during his recent stint in rehab.
According to his minder, Johnny Jeannevol, the Babyshambles frontman attempted to overdose on pills while in the Clouds House clinic in Wiltshire.
Claiming the singer had been upset about his break-up with model Kate Moss, the bodyguard told The News Of The World: "He saw an opportunity to take an overdose and took it. He told me he didn't know what the pills were but thought 'f**k it' and took them all. He doesn't care what drugs do to him – in fact, he likes finding out."
Doherty was violently sick from the medicine but went on to complete his rehab and test negative for drugs in his system.

Bruce Springsteen sued over a horse named Pavarotti
[source: NME.com] Bruce Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa are being sued by an Olympic equestrian who claims the pair got cold feet on a deal to buy a horse worth almost AU$950,000 for their teenage daughter, Jessica.
The Boss and his wife reportedly agreed to pay Todd Minikus US$650,000 for a horse named Pavarotti, and also offer their horse, Scarlett, as part exchange.
According to Associated Press, the lawsuit says the couple signed a contract and paid a $25,000 deposit before changing their minds after Minikus rode Pavarotti at the Pan American Games in Brazil.
The lawsuit calls the issue "a simple matter of parties on one side of a contract getting cold feet" and calls the Springsteens the "cold-footed parties".
Minikus is seeking damages and wants to be compensated for the maintenance of Pavarotti.

Madonna adoption in doubt?
Madonna's plans to adopt a second child from the African country of Malawi have hit a snag after the uncle of 13-month-old orphan Mercy James said he wasn't keen on the pop superstar.
According to John Ngalande, his niece will face serious problems if taken in by a white couple.
"We were told when Mercy went into the orphanage that we would be in constant contact with her and that she would come back to us after six years," Ngalande said.
"I would like to stick to that. Whether it be Madonna or any other white person, I'm against our child being taken away."
The 49-year-old singer and her husband, director Guy Richie, already have a Malawian-born son, David Banda.

Supergrass bassist recovering from sleepwalking incident
Supergrass bassist Mick Quinn says he's recovering well from the freak sleepwalking accident that saw him fall from a first-floor balcony and break his back while holidaying in France recently.
The rest of the band are currently working on the delayed release of their new LP (their first disc since 2005's Road To Rouen), while the 37-year-old continues to recuperate.
"Just thought I'd call in and tell you how I'm getting on as I'm almost feeling well enough to start moaning," Quinn wrote on the band's website.
"Still convalescing in a hospital in Toulouse where both my back and foot operations went well. I've managed to avoid too much pain by taking large, horse-size tablets of Paracetamol every six hours and lying as still as possible.
"I have progressed from being covered in drips, tubes and wires last week to a 'stand-alone' human being, although due to my back injury I still have to spend the majority of my time lying flat with no pillow, staring at the same patch of ceiling."

Ray Charles' son launches lawsuit
Ray Charles Robinson Jr., the son of late soul singer Ray Charles, has filed a lawsuit against his father's former manager, alleging Joe Adams cheated his family out of AU$11.13 million in company shares.
Adams managed the singer for 45 years and was named by Charles as the executor of his estate after his death in 2004, aged 73.
Robinson Jr., who says he was unable to deal with his father's business at the time due to now resolved drug issues, said Adams coerced his father into giving up shares in a family-owned production company, cheating the family out of the cash.
So far, the former manager has not responded to the legal action.
