Silverchair pay tribute to Midnight Oil at ARIA Awards
Former Newcastle trio Silverchair have announced they’ll perform a classic Midnight Oil song at the 2006 ARIA Awards to celebrate the legendary band’s induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.
It will be the first ARIA appearance in four years for Silverchair, who are currently recording a new album that's due for release in early 2007. According to frontman Daniel Johns, the opportunity to celebrate the Oils' achievements in Australian music was simply unmissable.
“The invitation to pay tribute to the Oils was just too good to refuse,” Johns said. “They are true musical pioneers and one of the greatest Australian artists of all time.”
Make sure you tune into the 2006 ARIA Awards – broadcast on Network Ten at 7.30pm on Sunday October 29 – to catch the performance.
