The Polyphonic Spree are black
[source: NME.com] The Polyphonic Spree have ditched their white gowns for an all-black combat look.
The Texan collective de-robed for a new image entitled The Fragile Army, named after their forthcoming album.
The new look sees the band sporting black combat kit with hearts, red crosses and a new logo.
"The heart is a symbol of care or thoughtfulness. The cross represents first aid. It's just a reminder [of what we're capable of]," singer Tim DeLaughter said.
The band currently have a new five-track EP available as an iTunes digital release.
The EP, Wait, includes "I'm Calling" and "Mental Cabaret" from the forthcoming album, plus covers of Nirvana's "Lithium", The Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way" and Tripping Daisy's "Sonic Bloom".
The Fragile Army is due out in early 2007.

My Chemical Romance kick off world tour in Stockholm
[source: NME.com] My Chemical Romance began their world tour in Stockholm on Wednesday.
The emo rockers tore through a host of new tracks from latest album The Black Parade, including "Mama", "I Don't Love You", "This Is How To Disappear", "Cancer" and recent UK number one "Welcome To The Black Parade".
Many fans braved freezing temperatures outside the venue for up two days in order to be first in line.
During the chaotic set, singer Gerard Way praised the crowd and urged them to never use violence.
"You are about the best crowd we have ever played to," he declared. "We are all here because we are different. Don't let anybody make you change, because you are all much cleverer and far better looking. But most importantly, don't ever resort to violence."
"It's been great being over here," Gerard told NME. "There are more girls than normal. Yesterday we did a signing and there were so many people it took us four-and-a-half hours to get everything done."

Bank Of England: Beatles broke the law
[source: NME.com] The Bank Of England ignored financial offences by Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison, it's been revealed.
Secret documents published on Thursday November 9 show the bank was intrigued by how the stars were moving big sums of cash in and out of the UK, and concluded they had broken the law, The Guardian reported.
But the documents, released under freedom of information legislation, also indicate it was decided not to prosecute the rock legends.
At the time, transfers of money in and out of Britain were tightly controlled, in contrast to today's looser regulations. There were limits to how much sterling individuals could take abroad and how much foreign money they could keep in Britain.
The Beatles were under investigation in 1973 and by autumn 1974 it was decided that "technical offences... had been committed". However, it was also concluded that the money brought into Britain had benefited the country.
Meanwhile, The Beatles release a "mash-up" album of classic songs on Monday November 20. LOVE was created by Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin. The pair used master tapes of original band recordings for a collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil.

K-Fed: fighting for the kids
Having been issued with divorce papers this week by wife Britney Spears, Kevin Federline (aka K-Fed) has vowed to fight back.
K-Fed has filed papers in a Los Angeles court seeking sole custody of the pair's two children, one-year-old Sean Preston and two-month-old Jayden James. He's also contesting the issue of spousal support – he doesn't want Spears awarded any – and is pushing for his wife to be forced to pay for both their legal costs.
It's understood Spears issued K-Fed with a pre-nuptial agreement that stated he would get a US$300,000 payout, plus half their Malibu mansion if the pair spilt.
