Angelina Jolie blasts Madonna's adoption
Actress Angelina Jolie has criticised Madonna's October 2006 adoption of a one-year-old Malawian boy.
The current issue of French magazine Gala features an interview with the Hollywood star, who has two adopted children of her own (five-year-old Cambodian-born Maddox, and two-year-old Ethiopian-born Zahara). "Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where he was born," Jolie said. "In that country [Malawi] there isn't really a legal framework for adopting. Personally, I prefer to stay on the side of the law."
Meanwhile, Madonna is reportedly paying the university tuition fees of a local government official named Willard Manjolo, whose colleagues helped her adoption process. Manjolo, now studying at Swansea University in Wales, has dismissed the rumour.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham landed the second spot, with US socialite Nicole Richie coming third. UK model Kate Moss and actress Sienna Miller filled out the top five places.
The top spot for men, meanwhile, was reserved for football superstar David Beckham, while the worst dressed crown was bestowed on Moss's boyfriend, Babyshambles singer Peter Doherty.

Noel Gallagher: money in the bank
Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher has revealed his bank balance stands at a staggering AU$35 million.
In a recent interview, Gallagher admitted he'd lost some of his enthusiasm for the music business. But the pay cheques, he said, helps keep him going.
"At last count, I've got 14 million quid in the bank account. That keeps me interested," Gallagher said. "By the way, if anyone's reading this – particularly the Inland Revenue – I haven't got 14 million in the bank… not in cash anyway."
As the main songwriter for Oasis, Gallagher earns the majority of the band's publishing revenue, hence the big bucks. The group's latest release, the best-of LP Stop The Clocks, is currently in the UK top ten.

Brisbane-based rockers Powderfinger have flown to Los Angeles to start recording their next longplayer.
For the follow-up to 2003's Vulture Street, the five-piece have ditched regular producer Nick DiDia for Rob Schnapf, who's worked with the likes of Beck and Elliott Smith.
Posting on the band's website, guitarist Ian Haug revealed Powderfinger are heading in a new direction and will keep fans up to date with the sessions via their MySpace page.
"We are outta here to the City of Angels for a couple of months for intense music making and exploration of the LA wildlife," Haug wrote. "We are excited. I reckon you will be impressed by our new direction."
The new LP is due to drop in the second half of 2007.
