James Brown's body moved to tomb
[source: NME.com] The body of soul legend James Brown has been moved to a tomb at the home of one of his daughters in South Carolina.
Brown's partner, Tomi Rae Hynie, and his children have been in dispute over his estate since Brown died, aged 73, on Christmas Day from congestive heart failure. Despite their differences, they all attended a private ceremony on Saturday March 10, alongside other family and friends.
Brown's body was initially kept in a room on his estate before being moved to an undisclosed location before Saturday's service at Beech Island in South Carolina. It is expected to be moved again once a public mausoleum is built.
According to the BBC, Reverend Al Sharpton said Brown's adult children did not want to wait for the legal disputes to be resolved before laying him to rest, saying they "wanted their father entombed with dignity".

Courtney Love sued by drug rehab centre
[source: NME.com] Courtney Love is being sued by a drug rehabilitation centre over an alleged unpaid bill.
The Beau Monde centre in California claims it has repeatedly asked for the amount to be settled since the singer stayed there in 2005.
The court had insisted Love attend a drug treatment programme for 180 days after she violated probation conditions on three separate occasions. Her response to the treatment was deemed a success by a judge, who cut the length of her stay.
Love's lawyer said he expected the legal action, which will see the centre attempt to reclaim about AU$230,000 "will be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties shortly".
It's understood Love paid AU$12,800 up front before commencing the programme, but hasn't settled the remaining debt.
Meanwhile, the former Hole frontwoman is working on the follow-up to 2004's America's Sweetheart and hopes to have the new album out before the year's end.

Boston lead singer dies
[source: NME.com] The lead singer of American arena rock band Boston was found dead in his home on Friday March 9.
Brad Delp, 55, was alone at the time, according to Atkinson, New Hampshire police, who are still investigating the incident and have yet to determine the cause of death.
Boston achieved widespread success during the 70s and 80s with radio hits "More Than A Feeling", "Peace Of Mind", and "Don't Look Back".
The band recorded their last album, Corporate America, in 2002, with Delp at the helm. They made their last live appearance late last year at Boston's Symphony Hall.

David Lee Roth avoids Hall of Fame induction?
[source: NME.com] Van Halen will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on Monday March 12 but former singer David Lee Roth says he will only attend the induction ceremony if he is allowed to perform.
As it stands, Hall Of Fame organisers have arranged for Velvet Revolver to perform Van Halen classics at the New York ceremony, allegedly because it was unclear which original Van Halen members would attend.
Guitarist Eddie Van Halen is currently in rehab and does not plan to attend, so it's now possible bassist Michael Anthony will be the only original member at the event.
"I don't make speeches for a living; I sing and dance for my dinner," Roth said in a statement.
"It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band – who are only performing because they have some new record coming out – do our music.
"I have nothing against Velvet Revolver – I'm not familiar with their music – but that was my three minutes and 22 seconds up there."

Charlotte Hatherley reveals truth behind Ash split
[source: NME.com] Charlotte Hatherley has spoken for the first time about her departure from Ash.
The former guitarist left the band at the start of 2006 and, at the time, said it had been a mutual decision.
However, Hatherley has now claimed it wasn't quite so straightforward.
"In the end, it was the boys' choice. They wanted to go back to being a three-piece. They knew I wasn't happy in the band anymore so they assumed that I'd be fine with the decision.
"I did find it a bit weird. I left the conversation thinking, 'What just happened there? Did I leave or was I fired?'. But it was all very nice and there were no hard feelings."
Hatherley said she was unhappy with the direction the band were taking with 2004's Meltdown album.
"The boys were really in love with American music and with America," she told The Independent.
"After years of touring the States they were listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana, stuff I've never really been into.
"I found recording Meltdown really difficult. Basically I couldn't relate to it. Things were getting a bit stale and I think we all needed something to change."
Hatherley has just released her second solo album, The Deep Blue.

Jason Donovan to release tell-all book
He's already delved into acting, dancing and singing, but now former Neighbours star Jason Donovan is adding published author to his list of occupations.
A spokesman for the star revealed Donovan is currently writing a tell-all biography and has reportedly been paid more than AU$2.5 million for his trouble.
The memoir will, according to Donovan's camp, cover everything from his battle with drugs and alcohol to his UK legal troubles over questions regarding his sexuality. Perhaps most titillating of all, the release will cover – in depth – his romance and break-up with Kylie Minogue.
"This is the book every Jason and Kylie fan has been hoping for," the publicist announced.
"There is no aspect of Jason's life and relationships he has not gone into. The book will be out this autumn."

Bob Dylan: a false prophet?
A new book released by Pope Benedict has labelled one of the most influential musicians in history – American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan – the wrong kind of prophet.
A classical music fan, the Pope's new memoir about his predecessor, Pope John Paul II, criticises Dylan for his influence. In the book, he discusses Dylan in reference to an appearance the musical icon made at an Italian youth concert back in 1997, when Pope Benedict was then known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.
Dylan played classics like "Knockin' On Heaven's Door", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Forever Young", but the songs didn't set well with the rather traditional Benedict, who labelled Dylan a "false prophet".
"There was reason to be sceptical – I was, and in a certain sense I still am – to doubt if it was really right to let these types of prophets intervene," Benedict wrote.
Dylan – whose real name is Robert Zimmerman – was born into a Jewish family but has since swayed between Christianity, Judaism and being agnostic throughout his life.

Madonna joins Nip/Tuck cast
Despite claiming she's not interested in plastic surgery, pop queen Madonna will appear in an episode of cult TV show Nip/Tuck.
The show's creator, Ryan Murphy, revealed he's currently working with the singer on a cameo guest role.
"I'm going to write something for Madonna," Murphy admitted, "and I would love for her to do something with Rosie [O'Donnell]."
O'Donnell is a long-time friend of the superstar after the pair starred together in A League Of Their Own.
Madonna isn't the only star with plans to appear in Nip/Tuck: actresses Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman have also reportedly signed on for roles this season.

R.E.M. back in the studio
R.E.M. might be getting inducted into the USA's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this evening, but the influential outfit aren't resting on their laurels.
The trio are set to record their 14th album over the next three months, teaming this time with Irish producer Jacknife Lee (who worked on U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and Snow Patrol's Final Straw).
Due out at the end of 2008, Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Peter Buck's latest longplayer is the follow-up to 2004's Around The Sun. That album, a resounding flop in comparison to the band's past efforts, sold just 232,000 copies in the US.
Bassist Mills defended the LP late last year.
"I like Around The Sun, but I think, honestly, it turned out a little slower than we intended, just in terms of the overall speed of songs.
"I don't think in terms of directions, but I think this next record might have a little more rock to it," he said.
