The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has confirmed pop-punk trio Green Day will appear in the upcoming film version of the hit TV show.

Michael Jackson labels sister a "slaughter hog"
After piling on the pounds in 2006 to take on an acting role, US pop singer Janet Jackson has confessed megastar bother Michael taunted her about her body.
Now back to the slim body she's renowned for, Janet told American TV show Access Hollywood the "king of pop" bullied her into getting into shape.
"He called me names," she said. "You don't even want to know! They're not very nice – slaughter hog, that's not very nice. There, I told you one. I'm not telling you any more. It gave me a complex. I've got issues."
Meanwhile, the Jackson family have threatened to hold up a charity auction by Universal Express Inc, who plan on auctioning Jackson family memorabilia at a massive event in Las Vegas later this month. The Jacksons are questioning the validity of much of the items, but Universal Express CEO Richard Altomare insisted it's all real.
"We own the property definitively," he said, "and this unwarranted interference may result in substantial damages. Five charities will participate in the results of the auction. I sincerely hope that these children counting on the auction will not be disappointed."

Jimmy Barnes back in hospital
Having recently undergone heart surgery to fix a faulty valve he's had since childhood, former Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes has been forced back to St Vincent's in Darlinghurst for further treatment.
The rocker, who was forced to return to hospital just two shows into his current solo tour, admitted he went back to work with a little bit too much gusto.
"It is from working too hard," the 51-year-old singer said from his hospital bed. "When I got back to work, I powered into it… I went too hard."
After feeling pains in his chest on Wednesday, Barnes was diagnosed with Dressler's syndrome, a problem that occurs when "the sac around your heart is inflamed". He should be out of hospital within a week.

Blondie singer says Phil Spector pulled gun
With legendary producer Phil Spector currently on trial for murder, Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry has revealed the producer once pulled a gun on her.
Renowned for inventing the "wall of sound" production effect and working with the likes of Tina Turner, The Righteous Brothers and The Ronettes, Spector is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson at his home back in 2003.
Now Harry has revealed she had her own frightening encounter with the 67-year-old, after meeting him when he was working with The Ramones.
"He pulled a gun," Harry recalled. "That notorious thing he does. He stuck it in my boot. And he went 'Bang!'. I was like, 'Erm, thank you'.
"I thought, 'Get me out of here! I want to go home!'. It's his shtick, you know, but why would a person be walking around carrying a .45 automatic in their home?"
Spector's trial continues.

Lily Allen lashes out at fashion magazines
UK pop singer Lily Allen reckons beauty and fashion mag editors have a lot to answer for, including the current "size zero" trend.
Unveiling her very own range of prom dresses, sneakers and accessories at UK chain store New Look last week, the "Smile" singer (who's headed back to Australia for Splendour In The Grass) said the too-skinny trend has got to stop.
"If fashion editors put bigger models in their magazines, then maybe girls wouldn't be sticking their fingers down their throats so much," Allen announced. "It makes me so angry. They should think more about what they're doing to the younger generation."
