The Cure album postponed again
[source: NME.com] The release of The Cure's 14th album has been postponed for a second time.
Originally due to be released in May, the release was initially pushed back to October. Not it appears the album will not hit shelves until April or May 2008.
According to Reuters, Robert Smith is still recording material. He's previously said he would like to release two versions of the album – one mixed by himself and another mixed by a guest producer.
As of late last year, the band had recorded 33 songs but Smith was reportedly finding it hard to create lyrics for all the material
The Cure will tour North America in September and October.

50 Cent threatens to quit music
[source: NME.com] 50 Cent has threatened to quit music if Kanye West's new album sells more than his.
The rappers both have records coming out on Tuesday September 11 – 50's Curtis and West's Graduation.
In an interview with SOHH.com, 50 Cent said: "Let's raise the stakes. If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums."
His records have historically sold more than West's, with 2005's The Massacre selling 1.4 million copies in its first week, and going on to become the best-selling album of that year.

Factory Records legend Anthony Wilson dies
[source: NME.com] Anthony H. Wilson, co-founder of Factory Records, died of a heart attack on Friday August 10, aged 57.
Wilson is best known for signing legendary bands like Joy Division and New Order to his label, and as owner of the Hacienda nightclub in Manchester.
He played a key role in the Madchester scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Wilson passed away on Friday evening after suffering a heart attack that his doctor said was unrelated to his recent battle with cancer.
Professor Robert Hawkins, his doctor at Christie hospital, told The Guardian: "It's very sad. He died as a result of something unrelated to his cancer. His cancer was responding well to treatment but obviously did contribute to his poor health."
Recently it was recommended he take the drug Sutent after chemotherapy failed to treat the disease effectively, but the NHS refused to pay for the £3500-a-month (AU$8,370) treatment.
However, Happy Mondays and other bands he signed established a charity fund to help pay for Wilson's treatment.
His family are reportedly declining to comment at this time, but thanked the staff at the MRI and Christie who have provided "fantastic" care for him over the last few months.

James Brown's trustee quits over misappropriated funds
David Cannon, trustee of the late US singer legend James Brown, has resigned amid accusations he misappropriated more than AU$414,000 from the Godfather Of Soul's cash.
Having appeared in an Atlanta courtroom on Friday August 10 for a four-hour hearing, Cannon resigned as Brown's estate's co-executor in a sudden move and reportedly handed over a cheque for the missing money. According to Louis Levenson, a solicitor for some of Brown's children, it's unknown exactly how much money is left in the late singer's account, while Forlando Brown – the singer's nephew – said family squabbling has caused huge rifts between the offspring.
James Brown died on Christmas Day 2006, aged 73.

The return of Stereophonics
Welsh rockers Stereophonics are set to release sixth LP Pull The Pin on Monday October 1.
The album will feature live favourite "Bank Holiday Monday", which, singer Kelly Jones revealed, was inspired by the London terror attacks in 2005.
"I wrote the song in a hotel room in Germany," Jones said.
"It's about the way we all realise how important our loved ones are at times like these [the London bombings]. It's easy to take each other for granted. We get caught up in the material world or work and forget that it all means nothing without the people you love in your life if they weren't to come home that day."

"When my parents divorced, I never knew we would all end up in the places we have. But I have to accept change and I'm ready to start again. This last couple of years I've grown a lot, I've travelled the world a lot on my own and I am much wiser and more capable of handling the pressures."
