Gallows singer's head split open on stage
[source: NME.com] Gallows singer Frank Carter's head was split open on Saturday 15 September during a gig at Stoke's Sugarmill venue.
The incident, which required Carter to cut the gig short and visit hospital, occurred during a typically raucous show from the Watford rockers.
Prior to the gig, Carter had told NME he expected the show to be "mental", as it was packed out and there were no security guards, barriers or a pit between the audience and the stage.
Following sets from support acts Lethal Bizzle and Black Hole, Gallows took to the stage and prompted hysteria from the fans.
Fans reportedly piled on to the performance area, stage diving and sharing the microphone with Carter. Shortly into the set, Carter and one fan play-wrestled and sang together, but both tumbled over in the commotion. Carter's forehead smashed against the floor, causing blood to gush from the wound.
He continued singing but when the song was over, he announced he was going to A&E.
Frank Carter's brother, Black Hole's Rich Carter, stepped onstage and sang "In The Belly Of A Shark" and "Cassanova" before the band called it a night.
Carter is expected to make a full recovery and the UK tour is currently scheduled to continue as normal.

Britney's lawyer says back off
Following Britney Spears' disastrous comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last week, the "Gimme More" singer is now attempting to take control in her custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline.
Spears' lawyer, Laura A. Wasser, filed a motion with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday 14 September asking that the court seal all legal papers to avoid media intrusion.
The move came in response to a legal challenge by People magazine and a US TV station, who want the documents to remain open in order to cover the battle.
"This is the perfect instance to stop the madness," Wasser told the court, saying she was determined to keep the press out of the proceedings.
Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is understood to be in favour of the motion.
Federline is currently attempting to gain more custody of the pair's two sons. The court proceedings are set to continue this week.

Madonna heads to the Holy land
US pop icon Madonna is in Israel on a "spiritual visit", despite death threats and criticism from orthodox Jews.
The singer and her husband, director Guy Ritchie, met with Israel's president, Shimon Peres, at his home in Jerusalem on the weekend, where the Nobel Peace laureate presented Madge with a copy of the Old Testament. She was also photographed singing Jewish songs and dancing during a Kabbalah celebration in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, critics on Israeli television have labelled her trip "an abomination".

Shakira heads back to school
Colombian hip-shaker Shakira has surprised staff at the University of California's Los Angeles campus by taking part in a class called Introduction To Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations From Prehistory To Circa A.D. 843.
According to the singer's manager, Fifi Kurzman, the 30-year-old is taking time out from her career to enjoy her new studies.
"She told me she was visiting from Colombia and she was doing this for her own enlightenment and enjoyment," course lecturer Robert Cleve said.
"She looked like an ordinary student. She wasn't flamboyant… she didn't act like a big celebrity or anything. I was really impressed with how intelligent she was."

Across The Great Divide tour suffers setback
Powderfinger and Silverchair were forced to postpone a gig in Ballarat on the weekend after high winds tore a 15-metre hole in the venue's tent.
The Across The Great Divide tour is one of the biggest local tours ever undertaken, but even it had to admit defeat to Mother Nature when severe winds ripped through the Victorian town.
"When making the decision to postpone the show, our primary consideration was for the safety of the audience and the performers," the tour's promoters said.
The show has been rescheduled for tonight – but with winds continuing ticket-holders should check www.acrossthegreatdivide.com.au for further updates.

Amy Winehouse beefs up
Troubled British pop singer Amy Winehouse is on a health kick and determined to gain weight, according to her father.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror in the UK, Mitch Winehouse claimed the "Rehab" star (who's reportedly suffering from bulimia as well as drug and alcohol problems) is feasting on her favourite items, including yams, dumplings, bananas, jerk chicken and rice and peas.
"She looks stunning again now," Mr Winehouse said.
His daughter has recently been forced to cancel a number of shows for "health reasons".
